Aberdeen confirm loan move for Championship midfielder

Aberdeen have confirmed the loan signing of Norwich City attacking midfielder James Maddison until January. The ex-Coventry City man has only played once for the Canaries this season, which was an EFL Cup victory over former club Coventry.

The Ladbrokes Premiership club were looking to bolster their midfield options following the injury to captain Ryan Jack. Former Rangers and Stoke City man Jamie Ness was a rumoured target, but manager Derek McInnes soon switched his attentions on 19-year-old Maddison.

After a successful spell when coming through the ranks and into the first-team at Coventry, Maddison earned himself a move to Norwich in January, only to be loaned straight back to the Ricoh Arena for the remainder of the season. He is still very much seen as a player with a bright future and is one of many players that fall into that category at Carrow Road.

He is certainly a player that needs football to further enhance his development at this point in his career. Aberdeen ended last season as runners-up to Celtic in the top flight and they’ll be hoping for another successful campaign once again. Maddison has proved himself in the English Football League and a regular stint in Scotland could bring out further improvement in the clearly talented youngster.
