New four-year deal for key Brentford midfielder

Amid the midst of all the Deadline Day deals, Brentford midfielder Ryan Woods has signed a new four-year contract with the Championship club. His contract will see him extend his deal at Griffin Park until the end of the 2019/20 campaign.

The hard-working central midfielder came through the ranks at Shrewsbury Town, making over 100 appearances for the club. He earned a move to Brentford a year ago, signing a three-year contract. So far, he has played 48 times for the Bees and has been a regular fixture at the heart of the midfield.

Someone who is a big fan of his is his manager Dean Smith, who says that a player such as 22-year-old Woods perfectly fits the DNA for the type of player that can take the football club forward in the future,

“I am pleased that Ryan has committed himself to the long term future of Brentford FC, he has been a consistent performer in the first team with scope for further improvement. He is fast becoming a fans favourite with his energetic performances, he is a very important part of the plans moving forward.”

It has been a busy Deadline Day for Brentford so far after Rico Henry and Sullay Kaikai joined from Walsall and Crystal Palace respectively.
