Steven Naismith move to Sunderland is OFF

Norwich City’s Steven Naismith’s move to Sunderland is off due to the two clubs being too far apart in their valuation of the player according to a report from the Daily Star.

The Black Cats’ head coach David Moyes was hoping to sign Naismith for the second time in his career after he was the man who initially brought the forward to England after signing him on a free transfer for Everton back in 2012. It seemed to be a move that Naismith was keen on as well and he was allowed to leave Scotland training camp to negotiate a move back to the Premier League.

But the deal is now off as Sunderland and Norwich could not agree on a fee for the player. While it is unknown how much Norwich were wanting for Naismith, whatever Sunderland was offering was not enough and with there being too much of a gap between the clubs valuation of the player, the deal has been called off and unless a new club comes in for him, Naismith will remain a Norwich player until the next transfer window at least.

Naismith has only been a Norwich player for seven months after he signed for them back in January. He was meant to fire the goals that kept the Canaries in the Premier League but he only ended up scoring two goals in 20 appearances and Norwich were relegated to the Sky Bet Championship. And while it seemed like he would be returning to the Premier League, it now appears he will be staying in the second tier of the EFL.
