Colchester United secure signing of Reading ace

Colchester United have today secured the services of Reading starlet Tarique Fosu on a loan deal which will run until January – Colchester’s official website has confirmed.

Fosu is a winger who possesses a wealth of pace and skill – and has already shown that in Sky Bet League Two;  during his loan spell at John Coleman’s Accrington Stanley outfit during the second half of the last campaign.

That was one of two loan spells that the 18-year-old undertook last campaign – Fosu also had a loan spell at what was then Stephen Pressley’s Fleetwood Town side between the months of November and January.

The ace arrives at a Colchester side that have made a brilliant start to the Sky Bet League Two campaign. John McGreal’s side currently lie in fourth position, only missing out on an automatic promotion place on goal difference.

Fosu is in line to make his Colchester debut this weekend – as the U’s host Exeter City at the Colchester Community Stadium.

The former England U18 international becomes John McGreal’s eighth signing of this window, as he has looked to compile a squad that can bounce back from the misery of last season and revitalise a squad that suffered relegation from the third tier of English football.

Fosu turned professional at Reading back in 2014 – however has only made one senior appearance for the Royals, that coming in a 0-3 Championship win over Derby back in the 2014/15 campaign.

This is Fosu’s third loan spell away from the Madejski Stadium, and with only a year left on his contract at the Berkshire club – this may be his perfect chance to shine and really prove himself to Jaap Stam and all around the club.
