George Moncur joins Peterborough on loan

Following a failed attempt to sign George Moncur in the summer, Peterborough United have finally got their man, albeit on a loan deal.

Moncur has signed for the Posh on a loan deal from Championship side Barnsley.

The former Colchester man signed for Barnsley in June, after rejecting an offer to join the Posh on a permanent deal.

Moncur has signed a deal that will keep him at the club until 3rd January.

Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony tweeted that he’d “got there in the end” with the signing of Moncur!

Moncur found the back of the net 14 times for Colchester last season, and was the bright spark in a disappointing season which ended with their relegation from League One.

Peterborough manager Grant McCann, who wanted to sign the West Ham youth product desperately earlier this summer, said he was thrilled to finally have him on board.

“He’s going to add to our attacking threat. I’m simply delighted to have him on board.”

Moncur himself seemed excited on Twitter to have signed for the Posh on loan.

Some Posh fans aren’t entirely satisfied that Moncur has joined the club.

Other Posh fans are happy to simply acknowledge the fact that Moncur is a top quality player for League One.
