Wigan Athletic complete deal for Adam Le Fondre

Wigan Athletic have completed a deal to sign Adam Le Fondre on loan from Cardiff City for the season as confirmed by the club website.

The 29-year-old striker has been out of favour at Cardiff for a while now and had even been loaned out to Wolves last season. But apart from being named in one matchday squad, Le Fondre barely had a chance of getting a regular first team spot with the team this season and had been training with the developmental squad during pre-season. Now though he has finally moved away from Cardiff and will spend this season with Wigan.

As mentioned above, Le Fondre had spent last season on loan with Wolves. While there most of his appearances came as a substitute, he was still able to get onto the pitch for 30 appearances though he only scored three times. While this wasn’t the best period of Le Fondre’s career, it was still a spell where he was able to get regular first team football.

Now though he will join up with the rest of the Wigan squad and hope to add more firepower to the team. While they already have Will Grigg, the Latics will be happy to add another striker who can add more competition to the squad.

Le Fodnre started his career at Stockport County and after a loan spell with Rochdale he moved there on a permanent deal. He would hit it big while at Rotherham United where he made over 100 appearances and scored 58 goals. Then after a spell with Reading in the Premier League he moved to Cardiff.
