Middlesbrough winger turns down move to Aston Villa

Middlesbrough’s Albert Adomah has turned down a move to Aston Villa according to a report from HITC Sport.

It looked certain that the 28-year-old winger would be leaving the Riverside before the end of the transfer window when he turned down a new three-year offer from them because the wages weren’t good enough. The situation has been exacerbated as Middlesbrough don’t want to lose him on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of the season. Aston Villa stepped up to the plate to try and sign him and it looked like the deal was close to completion and Adomah would soon be wearing the famous claret and blue strip.

However the deal is now off as Adomah turned down the move. After finally getting promoted to the Premier League with Middlesbrough, he doesn’t want to drop back down to the Sky Bet Championship and will instead fight for his place on the North East and prove to his head coach Aitor Karanka that he deserves a better deal than what he was offered.

Despite this news, Adomah could still find himself leaving Middlesbrough. There are some Premier League teams such as Burnley and Crystal Palace that are interested in Adomah and it seems as if he would be happy to make a sideways move if it means he can stay in the Premier League. But even if Adomah does end up staying at the Teesside club, the Boro will still be looking to sign a new winger before the transfer window closes on Wednesday.
