Brighton to move for League One midfielder if Stephens leaves

Brighton & Hove Albion may move for Gillingham midfielder Bradley Dack if they lose Dale Stephens to Burnley, according to The Sun.

Brighton’s potential move for Dack would depend on several other transfers happening, meaning the club would have to find a replacement for Dale Stephens.

Premier League side Burnley are interested in Derby County midfielder Jeff Hendrick but now look set to miss out, with Hull willing to pay £7 million.  If Burnley don’t sign Hendrick, they will move for Brighton’s Stephens.  This would mean that Brighton could bid for Bradley Dack as their midfield replacement.

However, Brighton are believed to have some concerns over the fitness of Dack and would want to be sure before bidding for the player.  Dack missed around six weeks of last season due to injury.

Dack has been with Gillingham since 2010, scoring 32 goals in 146 appearances for the club.  At the end of the 2014-15 season, Dack had scored ten goals in 50 appearances and won Gillingham’s Young Player of the Year, Sponsor’s Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year awards.

The following season, Dack finished as the club’s top scorer with 15 goals and 11 assists.  The midfielder was named League One Player of the Year and also won Gillingham’s Player of the Year, Young Player of the Year, Players’ Player of the Year and Sponsor’s Player of the Year awards.

Gillingham rejected three bids for Dack in January, but could be tempted if someone offered the right money this summer.  Bristol City had a bid of £2 million rejected earlier this year so Brighton would need to up this offer.
