Newcastle United latest team to become interested in West Brom winger

Newcastle United are the latest team to become interested in West Bromwich Albion’s Callum McManaman according to a report from the Shields Gazette.

Despite only signing for the Baggies eighteen months ago, he has now been frozen out of the first team by head coach Tony Pulis and they are actively trying to get rid of the player. Plenty of teams in the Sky Bet Championship including Derby County, Sheffield Wednesday and Blackburn Rovers have been interested in signing him but none of them have been able to complete a deal.

But now Newcastle have joined the race and will be looking to sign McManaman before the end of the transfer window. The main issue other Championship teams have had in trying to sign the winger is that West Brom have been trying to recoup the £4.75m they paid to Wigan for him back at the start of 2015 and none of the teams previously interested in McManaman were willing to stump up that money and would have preferred to sign him on loan. However Newcastle have shown plenty of times this summer they are happy to splash out on players to make sure they return to the Premier League and look like they could do that again for McManaman.

McManaman came through the Everton academy but was released as a youngster and ended up at Wigan where he broke into the first team after a successful loan spell with Blackpool. After making 79 appearances and scoring 10 goals, he moved to West Brom in 2015.
