Magpies set to complete loan of Ghanaian international

SkyBet Championship club Newcastle United are set to complete the loan signing of Chelsea midfielder Christian Atsu according to Sky Sources.

The 24 year old Ghanaian international has endured a series of loan moves since joining The Blues in September 2013 and the player is set to add to an ever growing list of employers with a move to St James’ Park.

Full details of the loan move are set to be released later today although it is believed that Newcastle United will have the option to buy the player once the loan deal has ended.

Atsu began his career as a youngster in the academy set up at FC Porto with the midfielder going on to make 29 first team appearances scoring one goal for the Primeira Liga outfit. The player was also loaned to Rio Ave during his time at the Estadio do Dragao.

In September 2013, English Premier League club Chelsea signed Atsu in a deal reportedly worth £3.5 million with the player signing a five year contract at Stamford Bridge. The midfielder has failed to make the grade in West London and is yet to make an appearance for The Blues.

During his time with the Premier League club, Atsu has been sent out on loan to a host of clubs with the player having featured for Vitesse Arnhem, Everton, AFC Bournemouth and Malaga.

By the end of Atsu’s loan spell on Tyneside, the player’s Chelsea contract will have little time left to run and The Magpies could sign the player on a cut price deal.
