Premier League midfielder left out of squad amid Aston Villa ‘interest’

In a story on the Gazette Live website, reports are made that Albert Adomah has been left out of Middlesbrough’s squad for today’s Premier League game against West Brom with Aston Villa said to be showing ‘interest’.

The Ghanaian, who was also omitted from the squad for the midweek EFL Cup Second Round defeat to Sky Bet Championship side Fulham, is said to be interesting Villa as the Midlands side look to bolster their ranks in an aim to get back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

The Gazette say that “speculation over the weekend linked the Ghana international with a move to Championship new boys Aston Villa ahead of Wednesday’s transfer deadline.” He started the season opener against Stoke City and was a substitute a week ago against Sunderland and is entering the final year of his contract.

18-cap Ghana international Adomah started off in non-league football, coming into the Football League structure with Barnet before moving to Bristol City and subsequently to Middlesbrough where he is now. Whilst at the Riverside, Adomah has made 143 appearances scoring 26 times and providing 19 assists.

With the transfer window closing on Wednesday, if there is to be firming up of what the Gazette term as “speculation” regarding the interest Villa have in Adomah, then it will have to happen quickly.
