Blackburn Rovers target move for West Brom winger

Blackburn Rovers are targeting a move for West Bromwich Albion’s Callum McManaman according to a report on Page 73 of The Sun.

The 25-year-old winger signed for the Baggies at the start of 2015 from Wigan Athletic but has struggled to hold down a spot in the first team and now it appears that the club are willing to see him leave. Previous reports have seen Derby County, QPR and Sheffield Wednesday linked to him but this latest report has suggested that Blackburn are going to make a move for him.

The Lancashire based club have really struggled this season and currently sit at the bottom of the Sky Bet Championship after failing to win in their opening four games. Their only point has come in a draw with Burton Albion. But their head coach Owen Coyle is looking to strengthen his squad before the end of the transfer window to try and turn their season around and believes that McManaman, who he worked with at Wigan, is the person who can do it.

But the trouble with signing McManaman is that he will cost a large fee. West Brom want to recoup the £4.75m they splashed out on him and it’s unlikely that any of the teams that are interested in signing him will be willing to pay out that much. It means that Blackburn and the other teams chasing McManaman will be looking to sign him on loan rather than signing the former England U20 international on a permanent deal.
