Sheffield Wednesday have £3m offer rejected for Portuguese winger

Sheffield Wednesday have had an offer of £3m for Braga’s Pedro Santos rejected according to a report from Portuguese publication O Jogo via Sports Witness.

While a number of clubs had made offers for the 28-year-old winger, which tended to be around the £1.7m mark, the £3m offer from Sheffield Wednesday was by far the highest and it seemed like it would be accepted. However Braga look like they will be losing another one of their wingers, Rafa Silva, in the next few days and they don’t want to be lacking in the position so they turned down the hefty offer.

The Owls have been keen on signing a new winger all summer. They’ve already got one after they signed Will Buckley on loan from Sunderland but he is yet to make a start in the EFL, though he has made a few appearances from the bench. But with Marco Matias set to be out for a while with an injury, their head coach Carlos Carvalhal is keen to sign another winger and he looked to his native Portugal in order to try and sign Santos. Now the club will have to consider whether to make another bid for Santos when Braga have a replacement for Silva or if they should look for another target.
