Blackburn Rovers complete loan move for West Ham youngster

Blackburn Rovers have signed Martin Samuelsen from West Ham United on loan for the season as confirmed by the club website.

The 19-year-old winger is very highly rated by the Hammers ever since he was signed from Manchester City in 2012 and has already featured in a few games for them, though they were mostly in the Europa League. However in order to get more first team football he was actively advertised to other clubs as being available to loan. Several clubs were interested in signing him, with Ipswich Town’s interest becoming public earlier today, but Blackburn have won the race to sign him.

The Norwegian winger, who was recently capped by his country for the first time, has been out on loan before, spending half of last season with Peterborough United. He impressed in his 20 appearances at the club and while he only scored twice, they did tend to be crackers that wowed the crowds in Peterborough.

Blackburn will be hoping that the signing of Samuelsen can finally get their season going. They have really struggled in the Sky Bet Championship and have only picked up wins in the EFL Cup this season. Their best result in the league was a 2-2 draw with Burton Albion.
