Sheffield Wednesday move again to sign Middlesbrough duo

Sheffield Wednesday are set to make another approach for Middlesbrough’s Adam Reach as well as Jordan Rhodes according to a report from HITC Sport.

The Owls had been interested in Reach, a 23-year-old winger, earlier in the summer but their previous offer was rejected as their head coach Aitor Karanka wanted to keep him around for back up. But now they’ve signed Fabio, who is set to provide competition for George Friend, Karanka is willing to sell Reach now that Wednesday have made an improved offer believed to be around £3m.

But Reach isn’t the only player that Wednesday are hoping to sign in the coming days. The Owls have also stated an interest in signing Rhodes, a 26-year-old striker. Wednesday have had an interest in signing Rhodes before when he was at Blackburn Rovers though they were beaten to the signing by Middlesbrough who signed him back in January 2016.

And while Rhodes has only been at the club for six months, it looks like he could be set for a quick exit from the Riverside after he failed to make the desired impact. It’s unsure whether he will be leaving permanently or on loan, with Wednesday preferring to bring him in on loan due to his high asking price, but no matter what it seems like he will soon be leaving Middlesbrough.
