Premier League striker wants to leave, Aston Villa keen

Hull City striker Abel Hernandez wants to leave the club this summer, according to Sunday’s print edition of The Sun.

Hernandez has reportedly had enough of the problems at the club and wants a move before the transfer window closes.  Aston Villa are understood to be very keen and could sign the striker.

Hull have several players out with long-term injuries and are yet to appoint a successor to former manager Steve Bruce, who chose to leave the club this summer.  Despite these problems, Hull have won their opening two Premier League games and sit in the top four.

Pundits are predicting a difficult season for Hull, despite their opening day win over champions Leicester City and it looks as though Hernandez would rather leave the club.

Hull signed Hernandez in September 2014 for a fee of around £10 million.  The striker was the club’s big signing of the summer, and was bought to score the goals to keep Hull in the Premier League.  Hernandez could only score four goals in 26 games however and Hull were relegated.

The Uruguayan had a great season in the Championship, scoring 20 in 39 appearances as Hull bounced straight back up to the Premier League.  Hernandez may be set for another season in the Championship, if he does sign for Aston Villa.

Hull offered Hernandez a new deal today, which would make him the club’s highest paid player.  If Hull do lose the striker however, they will need to replace him quickly with so many players out already.
