Of the famous picture of the four young guns used in last year’s advertising campaign, only two remain. According to the Yorkshire Evening Post (YEP), one of the remaining duo hints at wanting to leave.
That player is Charlie Taylor, stand-out left-back and reportedly sought after by Premier League teams. A transfer request has been handed in by Taylor, a request summarily dismissed by the club.
Since the transfer request has been submitted, and refused, Taylor has been an ever-present in the Leeds side, featuring in all four Championship games so far this season. However, despite featuring in all four games, some fans have questioned his commitment to the cause – citing his want-away attitude as a problem affecting him.
However, in the YEP article, this is something that Taylor is quick to refute. When questioned about whether he’d remain a Leeds player and his commitment, Taylor said: “I don’t know. Whether I am or I aren’t, I’ll still be putting in 100 per cent for Leeds when I’m on the pitch.”
Despite maintaining that he will continue to give 100% whilst on the books at Leeds, Taylor did admit that the situation he is in is a distraction. Taylor says that a decision on whether the club keep him or sell him during the remaining nine days of the transfer window is ultimately up to them, but the shutting of the window is something that he is looking forward to. On this he said, “then I can get my head around the fact either way and concentrate on the football. It’s hard at the minute with what’s going on.”
Leeds’ next game is an EFL Cup Second Round game against Luton Town on Tuesday night before the Whites visit Nottingham Forest in the Championship.
