WATCH: Monk pleased with Leeds United’s ‘game-plan’ in Wednesday victory

Leeds United boss Garry Monk has stated that he was pleased with the way his side executed their ‘game-plan’ in the 2-0 win against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday afternoon.

Goals from strikers Marcus Antonsson and Chris Wood gave Monk his first league win as Leeds United Head Coach.

Speaking after the game, Monk was happy with his team’s performance. “We were the better team today,” The Leeds boss told TV Yorkshire’s Mark Wilson, “and we were playing a very good side in Sheffield Wednesday who had an excellent season last season.

“They are a benchmark for the league as well and it will be a good boost against and another improvement for the players.

Discussing the goals from Antonsson and Wood – Monk added “strikers thrive off goals, we all know that, and for them to get a couple of goals and work together very, very well like I think they did today, but really it was the team performance today.

“It was no individuals, it was very much a team performance which I work very hard with my players and my staff to develop and I think it was another improved performance.”

The Whites now have four points from four games following the win against Sheffield Wednesday and the home draw with Fulham on Tuesday evening
