Sheff Wed striker interested in Sheff Utd move

Sheff Utd representatives have suggested that no such talks with the player have taken place. Carlos Carvalhal told the player towards the end of last season that he no longer features in his plans. He has been with the club for the past four seasons but has had four loan moves away, most recently with Portsmouth last season.

Sheff Wed would be entitled to a fee if the player did indeed move to United as he is under the age of 24. Speaking after the Rochdale game on Saturday, former Northampton Town manager Wilder confirmed that he is indeed looking to dip back into the transfer market to further strengthen his squad ahead of the forever closer transfer deadline.

Although Lavery was born in Canada, he also has caps with the Northern Ireland Under-19 and Under-21 sides. He qualifies for Northern Ireland through his parents. He was called up to the senior side earlier this year for a friendly game against Qatar and Euro 2016 qualification match with Romania. He was not selected to play in the tournament itself over the summer.

The fact he was present in the stands watching the Blades suggests that the player is clearly keen on the move and is hoping to push through a deal. Time will tell if, or when, this materialises.
