Newcastle United v Huddersfield Town – Match Preview

Newcastle United will be looking to banish memories of their 1-0 opening day defeat in the SkyBet Championship at Fulham when they welcome Huddersfield Town to St James’ Park on Saturday afternoon.

The Magpies struggled in front of goal at Craven Cottage and another week’s gelling time on Tyneside could produce an improved performance on home turf as a large home crowd descend upon St James’ Park.

Newcastle United go into their latest clash with no new injury worries. French midfield ace Moussa Sissoko continues to be involved in first team affairs despite being linked with a move away from the North East. New boys Ciaran Clark and Mo Diame could be handed their debuts for the club.

Huddersfield Town arrive on Tyneside without Philip Billing and Harry Bunn who continue to suffer from injury problems otherwise head coach David Wagner has a fully fit squad available for selection. The Terriers are looking to continue their 100% start in the SkyBet Championship following their home victory over Brentford last weekend.

Newcastle United face Huddersfield Town in a league match at St James’ Park for the first time since 1983. The Magpies have not tasted defeat on home soil against The Terriers since 1953. The two clubs last met on Tyneside in August 2009 when the home side won a League Cup tie 4-3 in a thrilling match.
