Port Vale have signed Alex Jones from Birmingham City on loan until January as confirmed by the club website.
The Blues recently confirmed the signing of Greg Stewart from Dundee, meaning they now have a comfortable number of forwards. This has allowed them to loan out Jones who has now completed a deal which will keep him at Port Vale until January.
However while the Valiants have now got Jones for five months, it’s rather lucky that they got him at all. Just a few months ago the 21-year-old striker looked set to move to the other end of the world as he had traveled to New Zealand to pen a deal with the Wellington Phoenix but they weren’t able to file the paperwork in time and he was forced to return to England.
Now though he will hope to lead the line for Port Vale and will quickly get a chance as it was confirmed that he would be in the squad for tomorrow’s match against Southend United. He’s a different sort of signing to the majority of the Valiants other deals this summer as he’s English and actually has experience of the Football League, with Port Vale this summer electing to sign many of their new players from abroad.
