Gillingham make another big name signing

Gillingham have made another splash in the transfer market after signing Jamie O’Hara on a free transfer as confirmed by the club website.

A few heads turned in Sky Bet League One when it was announced that they had signed Jay Emmanuel-Thomas from QPR for the season with the former Arsenal man making sure the fanfare was worth it by scoring on his début. But more teams will now be looking at the Gills in awe after completed a deal for a midfielder more used to playing in the Premier League than in the EFL.

Most recently, the 29-year-old midfielder was at Fulham and was able to be a regular in that team as he made 39 appearances and scored one goal. However despite O’Hara’s best efforts, Fulham still struggled at the wrong end of the table and he was released at the end of the season. Now he’s dropped down into League One after penning a two-year deal with the club.

Now that he’s at Gillingham he will be hoping to help them in their promotion bid. Last season was disappointing for the Gills as after a great start to the season they tailed off and missed the play offs and they’ll be making sure that won’t happen again this season.
