European giants chasing Sheffield Wednesday’s cult striker

Ajax, Hamburg and Werder Bremen are interested in signing Sheffield Wednesday’s Atdhe Nuhiu according to a report from Dutch publication Elf Voetbal.

The 27-year-old striker divides opining at Hillsborough, with many fans wishing he would leave while another section of the fanbase adoring him. And it’s seems as if those fans aren’t the only ones to love him as three iconic clubs from across Europe are now considering making a bid for him.

Dutch giants Ajax are looking for a replacement for Arkadiusz Milik after he left after just one season to join Napoli with the club and they see Nuhiu as an ideal replacement. He is however on a large shortlist with a number of other forwards. Hamburg had previously been linked with another Championship forward after there were reports they were going to sign Newcastle United’s Emmanuel Riviére, but they are also looking at other forwards who could fit into their system and Nuhiu is one of their targets.

While many Wednesday fans would drive Nuhiu to the likes of Hamburg or Ajax, their head coach Carlos Carvalhal may not be so willing. He praised Nuhiu after their win over Aston Villa, claiming that it was because of his performance that they won the game.
