Derby County make £7m bid for Sheffield Wednesday maestro

Derby County have made a stunning £7m bid for Sheffield Wednesday’s Fernando Forestieri according to a report from the Daily Star.

The 26-year-old forward has been Wednesday’s star man ever since he signed for them from Watford last season for a reported £3m and started this season off well after he scored the winner against Aston Villa on Sunday.

But these performances have caught the eye of their rivals and now Derby County has made a massive £7m bid for the Italian to try and lure him to the East Midlands. The Rams are yet to make a signing this summer and their head coach Nigel Pearson believes that Forestieri would be the ideal man to finally start their summer business with.

But despite the large bid, Wednesday are unlikely to sell their star man. Not only does the Argentina born man have three years left on his deal, but the Owls have done a good job on keeping other wanted players this summer. Reports had suggested that both Keiren Westwood and Tom Lees were on their way out of Hillsborough, but both last week signed new long-term deals with the club and will now concentrate on their promotion bid. Wednesday will also be hoping that despite this speculation, Forestieri will also be concentrating on their next game.
