Peterborough players take to Twitter following opening day victory

For the third season in a row, Peterborough United’s first game of the League One season was an away trip to Rochdale.

And for the second time out of those three, The Posh left the North-West with all three points.

They came away 3-2 winners, with debutant Gwion Edwards scoring the winner after Marcus Maddison and Chris Forrester has equalised twice for the Posh.

The Posh players took to Twitter over the weekend to give their thoughts on a victory on the opening day:

Central defender Jack Baldwin spoke of the satisfaction of picking up three points.

Match winner Gwion Edwards described the support from the fans as “brilliant” and urged them to keep that up ahead of Tuesday’s EFL Cup match at home to AFC Wimbeldon.

Debutant Hayden White tweeted this picture, showing the passion of players and fans.

Striker Tom Nichols tweeted a picture showing him celebrating the winning goal with Gwion Edwards.

There’s no better feeling than a win, according to another debutant, Andrew Hughes.

Striker Shaquille Coulthirst recognised the unitedness of the players and the fans. Long may that continue!

Peterborough United’s next game is the EFL Cup tie with AFC Wimbeldon at the ABAX Stadium. Their next Sky Bet League One fixture is at home to Bradford City.
