Newcastle United: Sissoko reportedly subject of PSG interest

The transfer merry-go-round that surrounds Paul Pogba’s big-money return to Manchester United from Juventus could very well involve Paris Saint-Germain interest in Newcastle’s Moussa Sissoko according to the Daily Mirror.

With Pogba almost at the point of joining Manchester United, Juventus are said to be interested in PSG midfielder Blaise Matudi as his replacement. Should that be the case, the Mirror say that “the French champions are looking at France international Sissoko as a replacement though they will balk at the £35million price tag.”

After a good showing at Euro 2016, Sissoko’s standing in the eyes of observers and thus his price tag rose to the higher levels that they are today; the player struggling to replicate this level of consistency at club level for Newcastle United. It is this level of inconsistency that is said to be forcing many interested parties to balk at the £35m (€42.1m) price tag that the Frenchman now comes attached to.

Sissoko arrived on Tyneside during the January 2013 transfer window in a £2m move from French Ligue 1 side Toulouse. Since then he has featured 170 times for the Magpies, scoring 13 times and providing 27 assists.

However, this post-season Sissoko has made it clear that he feels that his future in football lies away from Newcastle, the way that he is going about it though hasn’t endeared him to the fans though. This is evidenced by the reaction of Newcastle United fans to the Tweeted link that Sissoko gave last night to an interview he gave reiterating his desire to leave the club.
