Assombalonga not for sale insists Forest boss

Nottingham Forest head coach Philippe Montanier insists that star striker Britt Assombalonga will remain at the club despite speculation linking him with a move away from The City Ground according to the Nottingham Post.

Championship new boys Norwich City are known admirers of the striker and have been linked with a £7 million swoop for the player but Reds boss Montanier has confirmed that no offers have been received for the striker and that the club will not be selling any of their key players on the eve of the new Championship season.

Assombalonga missed well over 12 months of action at The City Ground as he recovered from a devastating knee injury which saw the player break his kneecap and the striker’s goals were sorely missed by Nottingham Forest last season with the club scoring just 43 goals in 46 games as they recorded an unimpressive 16th place finish in the table.

The striker has now returned to fitness and is raring to go once again as new optimism builds around The City Ground under new head coach Philippe Montanier.

Assombalonga joined Nottingham Forest from Peterborough United in August 2014 for an undisclosed fee believed to be in the region of £5 million. The striker netted 15 goals in 32 appearances in his first season with the club before his serious injury halted his progression with The Reds.
