Aston Villa offering Gestede to try and sign Hull striker

Aston Villa are offering Rudy Gestede as a makeweight to try and sign Hull City’s Abel Hernandez according to a report from The Times via the Hull Daily Mail.

The tale of Hernandez has been a great one as in his first season at Hull he could be seen as a flop after he failed to keep the Tigers in the Premier League despite being signed for £10m, their record signing. However he found his level in the Championship and became the team’s highest scorer as they were promoted via the play offs last season.

This now has attracted plenty of attention across Europe as several teams have stated an interest in signing Hernandez, though Hull are unwilling to sell. And now Aston Villa are trying to persuade him to return to the Championship and are set to launch a very ambitious bid.

Not only have they offered a hefty sum, they have also put their own striker Rudy Gestede on the table. The 27-year-old only signed for Villa last season and still has four years left on his deal but after an underwhelming first season at the club, they are willing to get rid if they can get a potential upgrade. And Hull may be more persuaded by this offer as Hernandez is the only senior striker currently at the club.
