Brighton forward wants reported Newcastle United move

Brighton and Hove Albion’s Anthony Knockaert wants to move to Newcastle United according to a report from the Newcastle Chronicle.

The 24-year-old forward only signed for Brighton in January after a short lived spell with Belgian club Standard Liège but he impressed in that short time, scoring five goals in 22 appearances. However the season ended in double heartbreak after first missing out on automatic promotion after drawing with Middlesbrough on the last day and then losing to Sheffield Wednesday in the play offs.

And in the last week, Knockaert has been linked with a move away from the AMEX Stadium after it was revealed that Newcastle United had made a bid for them, though that was rejected as Brighton want at least £10m for him.

While Brighton are doing their best to make sure that Knockaert stays on the south coast, they have received a blow as it turns out Knockaert is keen to move to St James Park. While the forward has only been at Brighton for a short time, a chance to move to one of the biggest teams in the country as they try to get promoted back to the Premier League at the first attempt.

Now Brighton will have to try and persuade Knockaert that it would be better for him to stay at Brighton than it would to move to Newcastle.
