New owners act quick and sack Kenny Jackett

Wolves new owners Fosun International have acted quickly as not long after they completed their takeover they have sacked head coach Kenny Jackett, as confirmed by the club website.

Despite many rumours that Wolves would sack Jackett following their much-anticipated takeover, it seemed as if he would be staying at Molineux when Fosun International’s main director Jeff Shi suggested that he would be staying.

However it has turned out that the pre-season rumours were true as just a few days after their takeover was completed, Jackett has been relieved of his duties. Now the club state that they will be announcing a new head coach in the next few days so they can have someone in place for the opening game of the season against Rotherham United.

Despite this sacking, Jackett can be proud of his achievements at Wolves. In his first season at the club, he guided the club to promotion from League 1 as champions with a brilliant 103 points. They only missed out on the play offs by goal difference in their first season back in the Championship but last season will be seen as a disappointment as they failed to challenge for promotion.

Before the takeover, there had been plenty of people who had been linked with the hotseat at Molineux, with Julian Lopetegiu, who would become the Spain manager, claiming he had been offered the job.
