West Ham moving in to sign Aston Villa striker

West Ham United are considering making a move to sign Aston Villa’s Jordan Ayew according to a report from L’Equipe via the Essex Chronicle.

The Hammers have been looking to sign a new striker all summer but have struggled to complete a deal. The name most linked to a move to the Olympic Stadium is Carlos Bacca, but reports say the move is stalling due to disagreements over wage demands.

And with there being a worry that the move for Bacca may fall through, West Ham have started to look at alternate targets and Ayew is one of them. While he didn’t light up the world in his first season in the Premier League, the coaching staff at West Ham obviously believe that a change in environment could see him prosper.

Villa are very willing to sell Ayew to any club that meets their £8m valuation of the player as they don’t want to pay his high wages now they are in the Championship. Now Ayew could move to the Premier League though he has been linked with moves to clubs across the continent with Hamburg and Nice set to battle it out for his signature, though West Ham will most likely have more money to splash out to sign the Frenchman.
