Brentford agree deal with Foxes to loan full back

Championship club Brentford have agreed a deal to loan young full back Callum Elder from reigning Premier League champions Leicester City according to Get West London.

The deal is set to be concluded later this afternoon when full details of the arrangement will be announced. It is understood that the youngster has opted to move to Griffin Park ahead of offers from other clubs in the Football League.

The 21 year old Australian left back is a product of the academy set up at Leicester City. The player is highly rated by The Foxes but is yet to make his senior debut for the club. Sydney born Elder has already represented his country on the international stage with the player having played for the under 20s side.

The defender was given his first taste of senior football when he was loaned to League 2 club Mansfield Town in early 2015. Elder made 21 appearances while on loan at Field Mill gaining some vital first team playing experience. Last season, the youngster spent time on loan at Peterborough United and added a further 21 appearances to his tally scoring his first senior goal in a 4-0 rout of Doncaster Rovers back in October.

News that Elder will be joining Brentford ends manager Dean Smith’s search for a new left back after Jake Bidwell chose to join West London rivals Queens Park Rangers earlier this summer.
