Sky Blues take a look at former Swindon Town midfielder

Coventry City have offered a trial to former Doncaster Rovers and Swindon Town midfielder Fabien Robert according to the Coventry Telegraph.

The 27 year old Frenchman is currently a free agent after leaving Swindon Town at the end of last season and the player has been invited to train with The Sky Blues with the club currently short on numbers.

Robert featured for Coventry City in yesterday’s 2-0 victory over League 2 outfit Newport County at Rodney Parade and the player is expected to be given a further opportunity to impress Sky Blues manager Tony Mowbray in the coming week.

The midfielder is the younger brother of former Newcastle United midfielder Laurent Robert. The player started his career with French club Lorient where he made 25 appearances scoring one goal. After dropping into the club’s B team, Robert made the move to English football in January 2012 joining Doncaster Rovers on a loan deal until the end of that season.

In summer 2015 after leaving Lorient, the midfielder joined English League 1 club Swindon Town on trial and the player impressed enough to earn a one year deal at The County Ground. Robert made 38 appearances for The Robins and scored four goals for the club before being released at the end of last season.
