Wigan Athletic complete loan deal for Adam Bogdan

Wigan Athletic have completed the deal to sign Adam Bogdan on a season long loan from Liverpool as confirmed by the club website.

The 28-year-old goalkeeper only signed for Liverpool last summer but only made six appearances, with most of them coming in the cup competitions. The long lasting memory that Liverpool fans had of Bogdan will be his howler in the Premier League game against Watford.

Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp decided he wanted a new back up goalkeeper this summer and went out to sign Lorus Karius from FSV Mainz last month. This left Bogdan as the third choice keeper and keen to leave Anfield.

Now though Bogdan will be leaving Liverpool, for a season at least, after signing on loan for Wigan today. The Latics went through two keepers last season, starting off with Richard O’Donnell before he fell out of favour and was sold to Bristol City back in January. He was replaced by veteran Jussi Jaaskelainen, but his age was a concern to the coaching staff at the Latics.

Now though Wigan have managed to sign a goalkeeper who knows the Championship well from his time at Bolton Wanderers and will hope to put in great performances to possibly earn a permanent move in the future.
