Sheffield Wednesday want the midfielder with the name you want to touch, but musn’t

Sheffield Wednesday are considering making a move for Wigan Athletic’s Max Power according to a report from the Daily Mail.

The Owls are looking for a midfielder that can contribute in attack after Alex Lopez returned to Celta Vigo at the end of his loan. And after watching him in Wigan’s pre-season loss against Manchester United, they believe the 22-year-old midfielder is a player could add more energy to their midfield if they are willing to pay the £2m valuation currently placed upon the player.

It will however be tough to try and pry Power away from the DW Stadium. He only signed for the Latics from Tranmere Rovers last summer and really impressed after making 48 appearances and scoring six goals on the way to winning the League 1 title. And with only two years left on the contract, Wigan manager Gary Caldwell, who highly rates the midfielder, will be under no pressure to sell Power this summer, no matter how much Wednesday offer them to sign him.

While Wednesday are reported to have a large war chest this summer, they are yet to really use it. They haven’t spent a fee yet but have already brought in Steven Fletcher and Jake Kean.
