Sheffield Wednesday: Stop the Bus – he needs to get off

Back in February 2015, Sheffield Wednesday announced the signing of CSKA Sofia striker Sergui Bus. The then 22-year-old signing a three-year deal for an ‘undisclosed’ sum, which website Transfermarkt put in the region of €800,000. Now the Star (Sheffield) say that Bus’ stop in South Yorkshire is over.

Bus, along with fellow Owls Darryl Lachman and Claude Dielna, has been made surplus to requirements at Hillsborough and are currently training with the club’s Development Squad in what the Star says is them “having been frozen out.” Of the three, only Bus has featured for Wednesday under Carvalhal with all three players ending the season out on loan a foreign club.

In Bus’ case, he found himself on loan in Italy with Serie B side Salernitana, joining the i Granata in February this year and making 10 appearances for the second-tier Italian side, scoring once and laying on one assist. Overall, Bus has made 10 appearances for the Owls, including three in the season just gone – his last appearance coming as a substitute appearance against Rotherham in October. In total, Bus has scored just the one goal and provided just a solitary assist in his time in English football, these coming in the 2014/15 Championship season.

This lack of goals for Wednesday is in stark contrast with his time at CSKA Sofia where the young Romanian scored 10 times and laid on five assists in his 21 games for the Parva Liga side.
