Walsall striker Bradshaw set to join this Championship club

Barnsley are expected to announce the signing of Walsall striker Tom Bradshaw later today (Sheffield Star). They have agreed a fee with the League One club and the Welsh forward is currently undergoing a medical with the Tykes.

The 23-year-old handed in a transfer request earlier this week as he looked to force a move to the Championship. He expressed a desire to do so in order to progress his career both at club and international level.

The promoted club soon went back in with an improved offer for the in-demand striker. They have been trying to sign the player for most of the summer, but it looks as though their third bid will be their final and most successful one.

Since moving to the Banks’s Stadium two years ago, Bradshaw has become a big hit. He has fired 34 League One goals during that time period, adding a further six goals in various cup competitions as well. It was his goals which was a major reason why Walsall reached the League One Play-Offs last season. Although Walsall look set to lose another key player, Barnsley will benefit from having a prolific goalscorer in their ranks. He has yet to test himself at Championship level.

Several clubs have been interested in the player, so everyone at Barnsley will feel as though this is a real coup.
