Juventus defender and Icelandic international Hordur Magnusson has confirmed to mbl.is that he is to sign for Championship side Bristol City. The fee will be for £3million and he shall sign a three-year contract at Ashton Gate.
He looks set to become the latest summer signing made by Lee Johnson with the Robins. So far, the likes of Lee Tomlin, Josh Brownhill and Gary O’Neil have joined the club.
The 23-year-old was called up for the Iceland squad for this summers European Championships in France. He failed to make a single appearance in the tournament.
The centre back spent time on loan at Italy Serie B side Cesena last season. He played a total of 27 games for the club as they reached the play-offs.
Magnusson is expected to become the record signing made by the Championship club. He will join the likes of Aden Flint, Derrick Williams and Luke Ayling on the books at Ashton Gate. He helps fill the void left by Nathan Baker, who left after his loan deal expired.
The Icelandic defender failed to make a single appearance for Juventus during his time in Turin. He began his career in Iceland with Fram, before moving to Italy with Spezia in 2013. Last season was the most football he has played in his professional career to date.
Hordur Bjorgvin Magnusson confirmed to @mblsport today that he is joining @bcfctweets from Juventus. Transfer to be announced this week.
