Brighton set to complete League One defender transfer

The Argus understands that Brighton & Hove Albion are set to announce the signing of Fleetwood Town full back Tyler Forbes. A five-figure fee has been agreed between the two clubs. The deal will go through subject to passing a medical.

Chris Hughton very much sees Forbes as a player for the future at the Amex Stadium. With ageing captain and current full back Bruno now 35, Forbes is to be moulded as his long-term replacement with the Championship club.

Inigo Calderon also departed the club over the summer, meaning that the Seagulls needed naturally cover for Bruno anyway. Liam Rosenior is another option for that area too, but he can cover at left back or right midfield as well.

Forbes will initially link up with the Under-21 side at the club. This is where he will continue to aid his development in the game. There is every chance he would get an opportunity in the first-team at some point next season.

Over the last two seasons, the 20-year-old has featured over 30 times for the Cod Army. The League Side currently have Conor McLauglin, the Northern Ireland international, as their first choice right back. Forbes is also capable of playing in midfield too, but last season he played much more as a right back.
