Forest favourite promoted to coaching the Under 21s

Nottingham Forest have promoted Under 18s coach Jack Lester to coaching the club’s Under 21s side according to the Nottingham Post.

The 40 year old brought success to the club in his role with the Under 18s last season as his side romped to the league title and Lester has impressed the Forest hierarchy enough to be given a chance to develop The Reds’ Under 21s.

In a backroom reshuffle at The City Ground, Lester’s former Under 18s assistant Gareth Holmes will now take charge of the Under 18s and will be assisted by Jake Wigley. Lester will continue to work with the club’s academy but his main focus will be developing their 18-21 year old youngsters into senior footballers.

Lester holds Nottingham Forest very close to his heart after spending two spells playing for the club. The former striker represented The Reds from 2000 to 2003 and the from 2004 to 2007. The evergreen forward netted 37 goals for Forest in 192 appearances for the club.

Born in Sheffield, Lester enjoyed a professional playing career which spanned out for 20 years before finally hanging up his boots at the age of 38. The striker made 648 senior career appearances and scored 174 goals. Lester spent most of his career playing in English football’s second tier but never featured in the Premier League.
