League One youngster set for Brighton move

Fleetwood Town are set to cash in on their right full back Tyler Hornby-Forbes as Brighton are close to agreeing terms with the right sided player. (Blackpool Gazette)

Forbes is understood to want to move to the ambitious club in Brighton after he turned down a new contract offered to him at his current club Fleetwood.

The 20-year old struggled to feature in Steven Pressley’s side last season due to the Northern Ireland international Conor McLaughlin keeping him out of first team action who of course has recently returned from France after Wales knocking Michael O’Neil’s Northern Ireland team out of EURO 2016 in the last 16 stage.

Forbes who found himself surplus to requirements by Lancashire team Preston North End two years ago he joined up with Fleetwood making his debut in November 2014 under former boss Graham Alexander.

The contract situation with the youngster is complex, although he is out of contract at Highbury, Fleetwood are entitled to a compensation package for him because of his age and a deal involving a substantial fee between the two clubs is close to be being agreed.

Chris Hughton, the man in the dugout at Brighton will be looking to strengthen his side yet again this summer ahead of the fourth coming campaign when the seagulls will be competing with a number of clubs including potentially all relegated sides from the Premier League last season and other clubs are said to challenge them for promotion including QPR and Derby County.
