Aston Villa have £5million midfielder bid accepted

After we covered news on Aston Villa bidding £5million for Reading’s Aaron Tshibola, Get Reading have confirmed this offer has been accepted. The midfielder is no travelling to Birmingham to discuss personal terms.

Recently appointed Reading manager Jaap Stam said that he did not want to lose Tshibola recently. However the offer of £5million for a player that only played 16 times last season is too good to turn down. That money can then go back into further strengthening the Royals team.

Several clubs have been linked with the club. Crystal Palace, West Bromwich Albion, Norwich City and Celtic most notably. However Tshibola will probably be keen on Villa as Steve Clarke is their assistant manager. When Reading manager, it was Clarke who gave Tshibola a chance in the first-team fold.

Tshibola has only played a total of 17 first-team games for the club. The season before last, he had a productive spell on loan at Hartlepool United. He made 23 appearances for the club. However he is clearly seen as a player with a very, very bright future in the game. Roberto Di Matteo has been keen to particularly strengthen his midfield area. Several already at the club in this position look set to leave and have expressed a desire to do so over the summer.
