Preston North End complete deal for star loanee

Preston North End have signed Callum Robinson from Aston Villa on a free transfer as confirmed by the club website.

The 21-year-old striker has had three different loan spells with the Lilywhites in the past and scored four times in 31 appearances. This was enough to convince the manager Simon Grayson to sign him up on a three year deal with the club.

And returning to Preston was obviously something that Robinson was keen to do. He had been offered a new deal by Villa to help them get back into the Premier League but he decided to turn that down so he could sign for Preston where he will have a better chance of getting first team football. Due to his age though the deal won’t be completely free as Preston now owe Villa a compensation fee.

Robinson becomes Preston’s third signing of the summer after Chris Maxwell, Anders Lindegaard and Tommy Spurr.

After signing of Preston, Robinson said: “I’m really happy to get the deal done. I’ve had a few loans here and I’ve really enjoyed my time with the lads and the coaching staff.

“It was obviously a big decision for me leaving Aston Villa – I’ve been there since I was eight-years-old – but if there was ever a club for me to settle down with and sign permanently with, it would be Preston North End.”
