Magpies winger hates life on Tyneside and wants move

Newcastle United winger Florian Thauvin hates life on Tyneside and would like to leave the club according to the Chronicle Live.

The 23 year old Frenchman has endured a miserable 12 months at St James’ Park since joining the club for a reported £15 million transfer fee from Marseille last summer.

The player made just 16 appearances for The Magpies last season scoring once before being loaned back to French Ligue 1 club Marseille in January after Thauvin failed to settle in the North East.

Thauvin signed a five year deal with United however the player will sit down with manager Rafa Benitez to discuss a possible exit from the club with four years still remaining on his current deal.

The winger spent the whole of his career playing in France prior to his move to Newcastle United with Thauvin having played for Grenoble, Bastia, Lille and Marseille. Thauvin has represented his country at Under 21 level but may need to further his career away from Tyneside to enhance his chances of a call up to the senior international squad.

Italian giants Lazio have been linked with a move for Thauvin this summer however Newcastle United are expected to hold out for a significant transfer fee for the player as they look to recover some of their losses on the signing of the winger.
