Aston Villa linked with move for Albanian star

Aston Villa are considering a move for Albanian international goalkeeper Etrit Berisha according to reports by the Sunday Express.

The 27 year old was part of the Albanian squad which performed admirably in the European Championships with the player starting all three group matches in the competition.

Berisha currently plays his club football in Italy with Lazio with the keeper owning the unusual number 99 jersey. The keeper is not currently first choice at the Stadio Olympico and could be sold this summer with the player having just a year remaining on his current deal.

The keeper started his senior career in Sweden with Swedish Allsvenskan club Kalmar FF. The player made 104 appearances for the club while he also became dedicated penalty taker for The Red Brothers scoring four goals from the penalty spot.

After lifting the Allsvenskan title and the Svenska Supercupen during his time at the Guldfageln Arena, Berisha moved to Italian giants Lazio in September 2013. The player has endured a stop-start career in Serie A with the player making 59 appearances in his three seasons with the club.

The keeper has not featured for his club since February and could be tempted by a move away from Lazio this summer for more regular football. Aston Villa are said to be impressed by the player’s form in the European Championships while Premier League outfit Everton are also thought to be admirers.
