Owls show interest in Slovenian international defender

Sheffield Wednesday are interested in signing Villareal defender Bojan Jokic according to reports from the Nottingham Post.

The experienced 30 year old Slovenian international defender has a year left to run on his deal at the Estadio El Madrigal but the Spanish club could be ready to loan the player out after failing to break into the first team picture of late.

Jokic spent the second half of last season playing in the English Championship after joining Nottingham Forest on loan. The left back made 21 appearances for The Reds as the club slid down the table during a turbulent campaign at The City Ground. Following the defender’s spell in the Midlands, a number of other English clubs are said to have enquired about the player’s availability for the upcoming campaign.

The full back started his career in his homeland with local club Triglav Kranj before moving on to play for Gorica where he won the Slovenian Prvaliga. Spells at French club Sochaux and Italian outfit Chievo followed before the player joined Spanish club Villareal in July 2013 signing a four year deal with the La Liga side.

Sheffield Wednesday boss Carlos Carvalhal is thought to have been impressed with the defender’s performances for Nottingham Forest last season and could be set to try to sign the player who has an impressive 77 Slovenian full international caps to his name.
