Former fans’ favourite may return to Ipswich on loan

AFC Bournemouth left back Tyrone Mings has re-join former club Ipswich Town. talkSPORT understands that the defender may be loaned back to Portman Road as he steps up his recovery from a serious injury.

Since moving for £8million, Mings has only made two appearances for the Cherries. Those came in the 4-0 cup win at Hartlepool, and the Premier League draw with eventual champions Leicester City.

Mings was a half time substitute in that Leicester match, but had to be substituted minutes later with a cruciate ligament problem. He would then be ruled out for the remainder of the campaign.

He has spent a large part of the summer in America as he steps up his recovery from the nasty injury. It is believed that Mick McCarthy may benefit from him returning as he improves his fitness through matches.

The offensive full back was a big fans’ favourite at Ipswich. It was no surprise to see a big-money move to the Premier League materialise. Jonas Knudsen did progressively grow into the left back role with the Tractor Boys last season. Therefore it remains to be seen if McCarthy will go through with the deal or not. Still, it is a good option to have.

Even if it isn’t Ipswich, Mings would get into most Championship teams next season. He will naturally improve as the season progresses in terms of fitness and strength. A good pre-season under his belt will further enhance his hopes of a successful recovery.
