Forest snap up Greek forward on four-year deal

Nottingham Forest have officially completed the signing of striker Apostolos Vellios. The former Everton forward moves to the City Ground on a four-year deal, signing from Greek club Iraklis.

He scored eleven goals in the Greek Super League last season. He has experience of English football in the form of three years, which also included a loan spell at Blackpool. Vellios joins with immediate effect.

The 24-year-old becomes the first signing of the Philippe Montanier era with the Championship club. He joins for an undisclosed fee, although it is believed to be around the £1million mark.

Last season was certainly his best scoring season in his football career to date. It was the first time he reached double figure. His goals were the main reason why his club avoided relegation. In the end, Iraklis finished 12th in the 16 team Greek top flight.

The striker has also been recognised on the international scene as well. To date, he was played three times for the Greece international team. He was called up for the first time in March. He will be hoping to impress even more during his time in English in the second-tier.
