New Forest manager wants French winger as first signing

New Nottingham Forest head coach Philippe Montanier has targeted SC Bastia’s Floyd Ayité as his first signing according to a report from the Nottingham Post.

The 27-year-old winger, who is an international for Togo, has been a star while playing for the Corsican club after scoring 14 times in 53 games but as you’d expect, this has lead to interest from far and wide and now Forest are hoping to make him the first signing after the much delayed appointment of Montanier as head coach.

Much like Alan Pardew at Newcastle United, Montanier is set to raid France for many of his signings there due to his knowledge of the country. It also helps that French players still tend to be cheaper than their equivalents in England, despite the recent crash in sterling, though Forest are still set to pay the princely sum of €2m, which is roughly equivalent to £1.65m.

And it appears that Ayité will not be only player that could sign with Forest over the coming weeks. Former Everton and Greek international striker Aposotolos Vellios seems set to leave his current side Iraklis FC after sending his fans a tweet wishing them luck for the future and other reports have suggested that Forest have shown heavy interest in him.
