Sheffield United release Italian striker

There had been a battle to keep the 20-year-old forward at Bramall Lane last season as his talent had attracted plenty of interest following the end of his contract.

He decided to stay at the club but after only making one appearances for the Blades last season, it was decided it was best for the club and the player that he be released now with a year left in his contract so he could find a new club.

Back in 2012, De Girolamo was seen as one of the brightest talents in the Blades academy but his young career was derailed by a serious knee injury which kept him out of the 2013-14 season. He would go on to make ten appearances for he South Yorkshire club but only ever scored one goal, which was against Coventry City in the FA Cup.

But despite that, many clubs will be interested in signing De Girolamo due to his potential and success in loan spells away from United. His most notable spell away from the Blades was when he was at York City when his first spell he scored three goals in four appearances.
